CEDA works to create a complete patch display for Eastman Lodge
As part of the ongoing restoration of Eastman Lodge, CEDA has obtained and displayed several items of historical and scouting interest throughout the building. Because patches have long been a part of the Camp Eastman experience, CEDA, working with the South Eastern Iowa Patch Traders Association, is creating patch displays for the front room of Eastman Lodge. The first, a collection of Camp Eastman Summer Camp patches, has been completed and has been shown at several CEDA events. The second collection will include Community strips, state patches, and year segments.
Board Director Dean Anderson specifies exactly what CEDA is looking for: “We need Red/White Community Strips for all the communities that were in Southeast Iowa Council or that have attended Camp Eastman. We also need an Illinois and Missouri state strip. Community Strips were used before they were replaced by Council Shoulder Patches starting in 1971. These strips will be framed and put on display. We are also trying to put together a set of year segments (1941 - Present) to be framed and put on display. We need everyone's help to complete these collections.”
If anyone has community strips and/or year segments to donate they can contact Dean or send an email to ceda@mchsi.com. Once these patches have been gathered, Dean will mount and frame them to be displayed in Eastman Lodge for all to enjoy. |
