CEDA Flea Market Open for Business on Tuesday Afternoons During Summer Camp
If you are spending a week at camp this summer, be sure to stop by the Camp Eastman Development Association’s Flea Market held on Tuesday afternoon at the Trading Post shelter. Throughout the year, CEDA receives many donations of vintage scout uniforms, t-shirts and scouting memorabilia. Supporters of CEDA and Camp Eastman are often so generous that the storage of these items becomes no small task. Many of these donations are sold or auctioned during CEDA’s annual banquet, but time and space restrictions limit the number of items that can be offered at that event.
Three years ago, the CEDA Board of Directors decided to test the waters and sell a few of these treasures during summer camp. To their surprise, the sale was a big hit with young and old alike. From a first year camper picking up a needed uniform piece, to camp staff members looking for old camp staff t-shirts, the sale seemed to have something for everyone. Last year, CEDA board members received several requests to repeat the Flea Market during camp, and the event was again a success.
This year’s Flea Market will offer a wide variety of scouting memorabilia and hard to find camp t-shirts and collectables. Proceeds from the Flea Market go directly back into projects designated to enhance the Camp Eastman experience. Stop by the Trading Post on Tuesday afternoons during camp to find that unique item you’ve always wanted. |
